Theme: New Innovations in Mixed Methods Designs
Presenters:
John W. Creswell, PhD (University of Michigan, USA)
 Mariko Hirose, Ph.D.
Moderator:
 Michiko Abe
Program Overview:
Mixed methods designs are the most discussed topic over the years in
the field of mixed methods research. Designs have evolved over the years
(Creswell & Plano Clark, 2023), and they continually advance into new
forms. In this workshop we will trace historical phases in mixed methods
designs from original thinking and into the latest innovations. The phases
are: initial designs, multiple typologies of designs, interactive designs,
core designs, hybrid (or complex or advanced) designs models, and, most
recently, intersected designs linking methodology with methodology
(Cameron, 2024). In interaction with participants in the workshop, we will
identify audience projects as following into one or more of these design
phases.
